COURSE OVERVIEW                                                                                                                                                                                    
An intermediate level skill-based course that builds on the foundation from Critical Thinking Level I, diving deeper into a structured assessment of real-world scenarios. Critical Thinking Level I is a pre-requisite for this class. It is highly recommended for students who wish to enroll in future debate class. This class is suitable for students who are already able to identify some stakeholders, as well as basic positive and negative impacts to each stakeholder.This course is for students who would like to develop their skills to evaluate argument strengths, identifying underlying assumptions and logical inconsistency of opponents. By the end of the course, students will be able to recognize flaws in arguments and determine how to best build a strong case for themselves.The course will be extremely interactive and activity-centric with puzzles, decoding, and roleplays that hone relevant debate skills, such as deduction, and making informed decisions. Students must constantly share and defend their thoughts for various real-world topics.For skill development, the course will use intriguing examples from the real world, historical and recent alike. The expectation is that students will be able to discuss major controversies and defend their case.

Understanding Fallacies

-Naming (kid-friendly version) and showing fallacies from real world examples, and how it leads the discussion astray.
- Equip the kids with tools to spot fallacies and how to respectfully point them out.

4Validating Evaluating Evidence
-Learning the checklist of strong evidence and claims
-Learning the difference between facts, opinion and misinformation, and how to address them in debates.

5Model Proposition
-Learning what makes a model 'practical' and 'a better model' script to anchor.
-Learning to explain how a solution addresses the pain point, with a checklist and a structured

6Stakeholder Analysis
-Learning how to use empathy in argumentation and empathize different stakeholders' characteristics

7Mini-Debate
-Recap of key concepts from all classes.
-Students will draw a topic and do a one-person debate. Each will make their case, listen to the teacher's case, and make rebuttals against it.

8Preparation for LIVE Showcase
-Practicing their speeches without scripts.

HOMEWORK                                                                                                                                                                                                  
• Students may be assigned light homework after each session. Completion of homework is highly recommended, so students can benefit from independent learning and apply the concepts that have been covered in class.

CRITICAL THINKING SHOWCASE                                                                                                                                                          
•The last session is the Critical Thinking Showcase where students will make a video recording of their speeches as world leaders, demonstrating their ability to critically think about a world issue, propose a solution, address misinformation, and answer questions from the audience.
•Student participation in this event is mandatory for course completion. Each student's performance recording will be sent to their family. Parents are invited to join us at this event. The Critical Thinking Showcase serves as an evaluation of the students' learning outcomes. One Publique Retains the discretion to extend invitations solely to students whose performance, work ethics, and discipline align with the standards of One Publique.
•If students are absent for more than 2 classroom sessions without making up for their absence, this may result in exclusion from participation in the Showcase.
•Each student performing in the Critical Thinking Showcase will receive a Certificate of Completion and a Performance Video.

• Each student is expected to bring a notebook, stationary, and folder to keep their worksheets.
• Each student must have a personal Gmail account for Google Classroom access. We do not allow students to use their school emails.
